The back yard from upstairs window

Out the garage back door. 3ft high fence sits atop a 2-1/2 foot retaining wall.
Snow depth approx 4ft.

After I shoveled a path

Looking back towards the garage.

The back deck. Note snow level is even with the deck.

Same view, Jun 2005, after a hail storm. Compare.

More of the back yard. Where is the retaining wall?

Jun 2005 The retaining wall is approx 4-1/2 ft high.

The Miscanthus grass is approx 9ft tall. Only about 5ft is visible.

Jun 2005. Note the Miscanthus grass (R) has just started growing.
The Yucca is totally buried in previous picture.

The wreath on the front door has real snow on it.

The front porch does not usually have 3ft snow drift on it.

The front walk before shoveling. Note overhanging cornice.

After shoveling you get a better idea of the snow depth.
This is the south (downwind) side of the house, drifts will be deeper.

Our dog Kiley greets Maggy from next door.

Shoveling out the driveway. Neighbors are beginning to emerge.
We have to shovel out into the street as well.

The snow pile on the left is approx 5-1/2 ft high.
The more snow you shovel, the higher it gets...

The snow pile on the right, when done is over 6-1/2 ft high.

Jun 2005. The same view, just after a hail storm.
Now you can see the front walk. Compare snow cornice on roof with previous pic.

We put on our snowshoes and went for a hike to check our the roads.
Some cars were abandoned and buried.

The playground won't get much use for a while.

A final pic of the back yard.
